DEFINITIONS

  • Sexual Violence: any sexual activity where consent is not given or obtained freely.

  • Consent: actively agreeing to sexual activity with someone. Must be freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific.

  • Rape Culture: a complex set of beliefs that encourage male sexual aggression and support violence against women.

  • Title IX: a federal law that prohibits discrimination based on gender, which includes sexual harassment and sexual assault.
